ADEL Sofala

ADEL Sofala are a local charity in Beira, managed by Mozambicans, dedicated to the development of the province of Sofala including the city of Beira. They focus on alleviating hunger and poverty, as well as improving health and education. To achieve these objectives, they work within the community to provide information on development, working in partnership, to raise funds to organise activities that address various global development issues.

Bristol Link with Beira have a very strong partnership with  ADEL Sofala and are working together to develop community programmes in Beira.

Team Rubicon UK

Using a military approach, Team Rubicon create order in the chaos caused by disaster, deploying teams of highly skilled volunteers to provide life-saving aid to those who need it most. The objective is to provide hope to those who have survived disaster, going where the need is greatest.

Bristol Commonwealth Society

The Bristol Commonwealth Society is part of an influential and global organisation which aims to: 

  • Raise awareness of the Commonwealth’s 52 nations, their people, their cultures and their histories.
  • Support young people who want to experience what the Commonwealth has to offer and contribute to its future.
  • Promote trade and industry by encouraging Bristol businesses to develop links and partnerships with member countries.

The BioFactory

The BioFactory is a Bath based start-up, designing sanitation-to-energy solutions for use low-income, high-density areas in sub-Saharan Africa. Their mission is to uphold the basic human right of sanitation and energy access for all, no matter their situation. They have designed an off-grid toilet and waste processing plant that utilises biological processes to convert human waste into cooking fuel and soil conditioner. Their system is rugged and easily deployable without the need for construction, and ideal for schools, urban community centres and refugee camps.
