Bristol Partners

Bristol City Council includes Bristol Link with Beira as part of its twinning programme, which also includes Bordeaux (France), Hannover (Germany), Oporto (Portugal), Puerto Morazan (Nicaragua), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Zuangzhou (China) . The International Team provides support through their Bristol International Twinning Officer, and guidelines in the form of the Bristol City International Strategy. The Beira Room is a meeting room on the ground floor of City Hall.

The Bristol Commonwealth Society is part of an influential and global organisation which aims to raise awareness of the Commonwealth’s 52 nations (including Mozambique); support young people who want to experience what the Commonwealth has to offer; and promote trade and industry by encouraging Bristol businesses to develop links and partnerships with member countries. BCS provides BLB with an accommodation address and  meeting/event space. 

Redmaids’ High Junior School GDST in Bristol is a busy, happy, purposeful place, where girls positively thrive. Small class sizes allow teachers to know each individual, and provide them with excellent educational support, pastoral care and opportunities. Teachers have high expectations of the girls and actively encourage them to speak up, put themselves forward and always be prepared to ‘have a go’. Redmaids collaborates virtually with Matacuane Primary School in Beira.

RISE Youth Dance provides high quality dance training in an inclusive, nurturing and safe environment for young people in Bristol. Their vision is for every young person to become the best they can be. Rise believe in the power of dance to help children and young people become their best selves. Rise works in partnership with other other professional dance companies and other organisations working with children and young people locally, nationally and internationally. Rise Youth Dance collaborate virtually with the Dance Studio at the Casa de Cultura in Beira.

As a Community Interest Company, Learning Everywhere works with schools, charities, businesses and other learning-focused organisations, to improve the educational experiences of young people. Their ultimate outcome is to develop young people’s ability to make a positive contribution creatively, socially, culturally and economically to their community and wider society. Together with the BCC Twinning Officer,  Learning Everywhere is promoting BLB’s ‘Where is Our Twin’ Learning Pack to teachers in Bristol.

Afrika Eye is a film and arts festival founded in 2005 in Bristol, England, and is the biggest celebration of African film in the south west. Running across multiple Bristol venues, their programme includes screenings of features, shorts and documentaries by filmmakers from, or with roots in, Africa along with insightful panel discussions. Afrika Eye has collaborated with Bristol Link with Beira to screen films from Mozambique in Bristol.

The Global Goals Centre are an education charity inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals. They create projects to enable positive action for climate, nature, equality and wellbeing. They provide BLB with workshop and event space, currently based inside Sparks Bristol, which they manage in conjunction with Artspace Lifespace.

RTPI South West International Group work with the RTPI International Committee to address an understanding of planning’s role in tackling some of the biggest global challenges such as urbanisation in the developing world; climate change; sustainable development. Members in Bristol provide BLB with support in the preparation and implementation of planning projects, in conjunction with the UK High Commission in Mozambique.
